Pizza Movie Review

Written By Rigin george on Friday, 30 November 2012 | 22:59

Attakati producers are back with their second venture Pizza, which is a crime thriller. Pizza is is the first Tamil film ever with 7.1 surround sound mix. This technology is one-of-its-kind and very few has the facility to use this effects.

The film directed by Karthik Subburaj has Vijay Sethupathy and Remya Nambesan in lead roles. Here we take a look...

Micheal (Vijay Sethupathy) and Anu (Remya) are orphans and childhood friends. At one point, they decide to move out from the orphanage and live together. Micheal gets a job as a pizza delivery boy while Anu aims of becoming a fictional writer. Life takes an unexpected twist when Anu becomes pregnant forcing Micheal to enter the wedlock. The action begins when Micheal goes to deliver pizza into a haunted house... Which changes his life forever... And if you think the twist ends their, wait and watch there is something big waiting...
Script and screenplay are the backbones of the film. Added to that, Pizza also has a strong performances from Remya Nembeesan and Vijay Sethupathy. Kudos to debutant director Karthik Subburaj for coming up with a neat entertainer. Gopi Amarnath’s cinematography works are excellent. Music composed by Santhosh Narayanan is released by Think Music. The album has eight interesting numbers with the song 'Rathiri' having three different versions.

Neerparavai Movie Review

After the critically acclaimed Thenmerku Paruvakaatru, director Seenu Ramasamy is back with yet another family drama,Neerparavai, which has received a clean U certificate from the Censor Board. The film has Vishnu and Sunaina in lead roles. Bollywood actress Nandita Das (of Azhagi and Kannathil Muttamithal fame) makes a comeback with this flick. Noted writer Jaymohan has penned the dialogues while Vairamuthu takes care of the lyrics and N. R. Raghunanthan is the music director. The film is produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin under his home banner Red Giant Movies.

Esther (Nandita Das), a widow from the fishermen community, is in search of something always. This irks her only son, as he wants to sell their house and migrate to the city. Everyday night Esther is seen at the backyard of her house, singing songs which is usually sung at the cemetery. Her son begins to suspect her and decides to dig the place. Shockingly, they finds out Arulappa Das' (Esther's husband) dead body there... Esther is arrested and the enquiry begins, from there on it's her story narrated in a flashback!

Esther (Sunaina) is a pious young girl who lives with her cousin Sister Benita. On the same village, Arulappa Das (Vishnu) is an alcohol addict and they all belong to the fishermen community. Arul's parents are always worried about his behaviour and decides to put him in a rehabilitation centre. Meanwhile, Arul falls in love with Esther. When Arul comes back as a changed man, his village people fails to believe him. Arul, then approaches Sister Benita for Esther's hand but it goes in vain. Arul has to now prove himself, with the help of a Muslim boat merchant (Samuthirani), he starts his own fishing network. Everything goes right in Arul's life, he gets married to Esther, until a disaster happens...

Vishnu is brilliant as Arul, there is lots of hard work gone into his character and it is well reflected on screens. Sunaina, goes de-glam and she rocks the screen. Samuthirakani is brilliant so is Saranya Ponvannan, Azhagan Perumal, Thambi Ramaiah and Aupama Kumar. Nandita Das needs no introduction at all and she is perfect. Director Seenu Ramasamy has tried to address many issues through this love story. N.R. Raghunathan's music is good and Balasubramanium's camera works are brilliant. The beautiful locales of Tuticorin and Thirchendur are a treat for eyes.

Neerparavai is a breath of fresh air, a movie you can enjoy with your family and friends. Definitely worth a watch!

Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom Movie

Debutant director Balaji Tharanitharan's comic caper Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom (NKPK) has finally seen the light. The film's release has recently been pushed earlier due to lack of theatres. The film is apparently an on screen adaptation of a real-life incident. Interestingly the film is inspired from a chapter in the life of cinematographer Premkumar (of Pasanga fame). What will happen when a person suddenly realises that few days of his own life is missing, that too just few days before his marriage; this forms the basic crux of the film. Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom has Vijay Sethupathy and Bhavathi in lead roles. Music is composed by Ved Shankar and the movie has been produced by V.S. Rajkumar for Leo Vision and J.S.K. Film Corporation.

After lots of fight and struggle, Prem's (Vijay Sethupathy) marriage with his lady love Dhanalakshmi (Gayathri) gets finalised. A day before his wedding Prem decides to play cricket with his friends (Rajkumar, Vigneswaran and Bhagawathy Perumal). The game goes serious and Prem hurts his head when he tries to catch the ball. Shockingly, Prem forgets few months in his life including his lady love Dhanalakshmi. His friends take him to the hospital but nothing works. So what will happen now? Will Prem marry his lady love? Watch out for Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom...

Director Balaji Tharanitharan's has surely delivered a comedy entertainer right in his debut flick. The series of events where Prem's friends tries to hide his problem from his parents and lover is a treat. After a long time, here we have a complete comedy entertainer with the real Chennai flavour. Vijay Sethupathy is the show stealer, he blank expressions and comic timings are top class. Rajkumar, Vigneswaran and Bhagawathy Perumal are perfect and sets the screen on laugh-riot. Gayathri has very limited role in NKPK.Premkumar's camera works are youthful and realistic. Ved Shankar's music is good and Govindaraj's editing works are sleek but the the film can be trimmed further to get that perfect touch.

Thiruthani Movie Review

Director Perarasu, the man with many ideas and many hits with racy narration and sleek screenplays, is one of the few who strikes success with formula entertainers. He is back with Bharath for the second time in Thiruthani. The film was in the making since 2009, and Sunaina plays the female lead.

Perarasu, whose movies are famous for action and melodrama, is following the same formula in this flick too.

Whe Velu (Bharath), a happy-go-lucky gym instructor falls in love with Sugisha (Sunaina), an orphan, he thinks that his life is ful-filled. He even refuses to help Duraipandi ( Raj Kiran), an ex-military man, who wants to fights against all the evil odds with the help of Velu's bravado. In a turn of events, a life turning accident takes place in Velu's life and he learns that he has only six months to live... Now he decides to follow Duraipandi's words!

Thiruthani follows Perarasu's regular graph - fight, songs, family drama, hero-heroine love and fighting for the society.

Poda Podi Tamil Movie

They say love stories never fail in Indian cinema... and that is the reason why many top stars and directors consider it as a safe bet, even today. So for this festive season, here comes yet another rom-com, this time from heartthrob STR. The film is directed by debutant Vignesh Shivan and Gemini Film Circuit is the producer. Podaa Podi is also special for one more thing; it marks the debut of Sarath Kumar's daughter Varalaxmi... Dharan Kumar's song, 'Love Pannalama Vennama' is already topping the charts so lets take a look at how the film is...

The film is set in London! Arjun (STR), an animation expert (they say so! but he was never shown working), falls in love with the happy-go-lucky Salsa dancer Nisha (Varalaxmi). Arjun is a responsible guy who believes and think in the Indian way whereas Nisha, a hardcore party freak, believes in living for the moment. Her life revolves around her dance and the upcoming dance competition, which is the biggest dancing event in UK. But Arjun hates Nisha's passion for Salsa, as he feels that the intimacy between Nisha and her dancing partner (Mojo) is too much.. besides the hiccups, things move on and they get married (infact a conditional marriage, you have to watch the film to know more on it); but despite everything Nisha continues dancing which irks Arjun. After sometime, Nisha gets pregnant and gives birth to a baby boy... When Nisha finds out the Arjun's plans (in the plan) against her passion for dance, she gets annoyed. Due to the possessive attitude of Arjun, life take a turn for the young couple and the disaster begins... To know anything more you will have to watch the film, only on big screens!

Ammavin-kaipesi Tamil Movie

Tamil Cinema is not new to movies with mother sentiment being the core of it. However, Thangar Bachan has come out with a completely new and interesting story, with mother's love as the theme!

The story revolves around an aged mother and her nine children, with whom she is in touch only through her mobile phone! With time, she becomes very possessive of her phone, as that is her only means of connecting with her family. Will the mother be able to rejoin her family, or will it all end with just phone calls? Watch the movie to know the rest!

Well, normally Thangar Bachan is associated with offbeat movies, and he sure does make them interesting! If you feel that the title suggests a melodramatic movie, then please do dispel that notion, and watch this movie with an open mind, as the director has taken a normal plot, but woven a brilliant tale around it, and made it into a movie that piques the minds of the viewers, and make them think extensively! The simple question that pops into everybody's minds is whether technology is a boon keeping people close, or a bane that causes people to be distanced from each other? The answer depends on the individual!

Shanthanoo makes a very strong comeback with an impressive performance, and Thangar Bachan impresses one and all as well! Iniya shows that she's well matured to take on even more challenging roles than her role in Vaagai Sooda Vaa! The editing is crisp, and Rohit Kulkarni's music is noteworthy!

Overall, Ammavin Kaipesi sure is a must watch movie, for all those who understand the mother-child bond, and it has been told in a simple and beautiful way!!
